Baby Food isn’t Just for Babies Anymore: Giving Yourself a Healthy and Realistic Start to a New Year



Happy New Year! The feeling of a brand new year is such a great feeling. It’s like starting a brand new book…12 chapters and 365 pages, all with the opportunity to focus on the good, breathe through the trials and BE an even better, new YOU! Until reality sets in….right? Only 8% of Americans actually successfully achieve their New Years Resolutions out of all who embark on the endeavor of making them. 8%! We have to question why that is.

Our theory is that people are either making too many resolutions at once (therefore making chances of success lower) or are setting too high of expectations for themselves ("sure I can lose 50 lbs in 2 months by eating lettuce and protein and working out every single day and I can maintain this my whole life" said no one ever). Another possibility is they are not breaking their resolutions into more manageable chunks (i.e. My bigger goal is to lose 50 lbs and to do it in a way in which I can live a sustainable lifestyle. I will lose 4 lbs in one month by exercising more than I currently do, by taking out 1 sweet at night and by adding in one more serving of veggies.) That sounds more manageable right?!

Well we are here to help all of you mamas who want to feel better physically, mentally and/or emotionally in whatever form that might be - losing weight, eating more nutritious foods, exercising more or doing something that makes you happy. Here are 3 super yummy, super nutritious and super easy (what mom doesn’t need easy?) recipes that you can enjoy using our Once Upon a Farm Cold Pressed Pouches. Green Kale & Apples™ Smoothie Bowl

  • 2 Once Upon a Farm Green Kale & Apples™ Pouches
  • 1 tsp brown rice protein powder
  • 1/2 kiwi
  • 1/4 sliced green apple
  • 1/4 banana sliced
  • 2 tbsp sliced almonds

For the smoothie bowl base mix the 2 pouches of Green Kale & Apples™ with the protein powder. Top with kiwi, banana, apples and almonds. Enjoy!

Thai inspired OhMyMega Veggie™ Dressing

  • 1 Once Upon a Farm OhMyMega Veggie Pouch
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar (not seasoned)
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons coconut aminos or low sodium tamari
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • Sea salt

Blend until smooth and enjoy over salad. We love this Thai salad recipe! 

Just Right Oats™ Mini Flapjacks by @nutruringbodyandmind

  • 2 tsp Once Upon a Farm Just Right Oats
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 mashed banana
  • 1 tsp brown rice flour
  • A dash of cinnamon

Whisk all the ingredients together. Heat a skillet with ghee, coconut oil or avocado oil. Spoon the mixture into the skillet and cook on both sides. Makes about 18 mini pancakes. These are also great for baby to enjoy!
